If the entire world were a village
If we were to reduce the whole of humanity to a village of 100 inhabitants and pay attention to the proportions of all existing peoples, it would compose this village like this:
60 Asians14 Africans11 Europeans14 Americans (North & South)1 Oceanian
52 would be women48 would be men
70 Non-white30 White
70 Non-Christians30 Christians
89 Heterosexuals11 homosexuals
80 would not have sufficient living conditions.
70 would be illiterate.
50 would be undernourished
1 would die2 would be born
1 would have a PC
1 would have an academic degree
Looking at the world from this perspective, it becomes clear to everyone that the need for togetherness, understanding, acceptance and education is necessary.
If you woke up healthy and not ill this morning, you will be happier than 1 million people who will not experience the next week.
If you have never experienced a battle of war, never felt the loneliness of captivity, the agony of torture or hunger - then you are happier than 500 million people in the world.
If you can go to church without the fear of being threatened, arrested or killed, you are happier than 3 billion people in the world.
If there is food in your fridge, someone dresses you, you have a roof over your head and a bed to lie on - you are richer than 75% of the inhabitants of this world.
If you have an account at the bank, some money in your wallet or some change in a small box - you belong to 8% of the wealthy people in this world.
You who read this text have been blessed twice - because:
You do not belong to the 2 billion people who cannot read.
You have a PC!
